23 Sep Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix: Vettel wins ahead Alonso and Raikkonen
The German Sebastian Vettel - Red Bull F1 racing - won the Singapore Grand Prix, 13th round (of 19) of 2013 Formula 1 season, ahead of Spaniard Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) and Kimi Raikkonen (Lotus), Sunday September 22 on the street circuit at Marina Bay.
Starting from pole position, Vettel led from start to finish and finished with 33 seconds ahead of Alonso. This is his seventh win of the season, including three in a row after Spa and Monza. The German consolidates his leading position in the world championship with 60 points ahead of the Spaniard Alonso.
Towards a fourth world crown
It is also the 33rd victory of Sebastian Vettel in F1, including three in a row in Singapore where he reigns since 2011. Triple world champion, it is more than ever time to launch a fourth consecutive crown at the wheel of a Red Bull increasingly unbeatable. This is the third race in a row where he won ahead of Fernando Alonso.
Future Ferrari driver in 2014, Kimi Raikkonen, who started 13th on the grid, was the main beneficiary of the race neutralization when the safety car came out, from the 25th to the 30th round, after overrun of Toro Rosso's Daniel Ricciardo, against the guardrail. Fortunately, the young Australian, future Red Bull driver was not injured.
A well-crafted marketing
Jean-Eric Vergnes official facebook account manager unveiled a few days before the competition the bright Redbull helmet. This is the first time ever that the technique of electroluminescent paint is used in F1 racing.
The driver has not switched to this helmet during 2013 Singapore Grand Prix. We can assume that its use has not been authorized by the race stewards.
